About the Tour

This half-day journey takes you along the scenic Saronic Gulf, heading toward the southernmost tip of the Attic peninsula. The Journey South
Your trip begins at a central Athens meeting point. As you leave the city behind in a comfortable coach, you’ll be briefed on the local mythology—essential context for what you're about to see. We make a strategic stop at the ancient Theatre of Thorikos. This is a bit of a hidden gem; it's the oldest preserved theater in the world. While you're there, take a look at the surrounding ancient silver mines that once funded the entire Athenian Golden Age.
Sunset at the Temple of Poseidon
Upon arriving at Cape Sounion, you’ll have roughly two hours of free time. This isn't one of those "five minutes for a selfie" stops. You have actual time to:
- Explore the Temple: Walk through the marble ruins of the temple dedicated to the God of the Sea.
- Audio Insights: Use the provided in-app audio guide to dive deep into the legends (just remember to bring your own headphones and a charged phone).
- The View: Position yourself for the main event—the sunset. As the sun hits the horizon, the white marble of the columns takes on a golden glow that is, quite frankly, hard to beat.
Relaxed Return
Once the sun has dipped below the Aegean Sea and you've finished your stroll around the cliffside, you’ll head back to the bus. The return journey is all about relaxation after a day of fresh sea air, with a convenient drop-off right back at Syntagma Square, perfectly timed for a late dinner in the city. Truly, its a great way to end the day.
