Meeting Point Meet at Tropical-Islands-Allee 1, 15910 Krausnick, Germany

Editor's Note

Look, I’ve spent way too much time tracking RevPAR and occupancy rates for sterile city hotels that all look the same. The industry loves to sell "luxury," but most of the time, they're just selling a slightly nicer thread count. That's why Tropical Islands fascinates me—it’s a massive, defiant middle finger to the gloomy Brandenburg weather. It’s built inside a former airship hangar (yes, really), and while some snobs call it "manufactured," I call it a logistical miracle. Why wait for a seasonal lead to drop for a flight to Bali when you can just drive an hour outside Berlin? It’s a bit surreal, sure, but in an era of over-tourism in the actual tropics, maybe a high-tech dome is the sustainable escape we actually need.

About the Tour

If you're tired of the "daily grind" (the most overused phrase in travel brochures, I know, but it fits here), the Tropical Islands Resort is a genuine shock to the system. Located in Krausnick, this place is Europe’s largest tropical resort, and it doesn't do anything in small measures.

Whether you’re looking to burn off steam or literally steam yourself in a sauna, here is the breakdown of what your day ticket gets you:

  • The Water Slide Tower: This is Germany’s largest, standing at 27 meters high. It’s got four different slides, ranging from family-friendly glides to high-speed drops for the adrenaline junkies.
  • The Indoor Rainforest: Forget the plastic plants you see in hotel lobbies. This is an enormous, living "rain world" with thousands of plants and a trail that makes you forget you’re actually inside a dome in Northeastern Germany.
  • The Sauna & Spa World: We’re talking about 10,000 $m^2$ of wellness space. There are saunas here that reach temperatures of up to 90°C, inspired by various international architectural styles.
  • The Tropical Sea and Lagoon: Imagine a beach where the water is always a balmy 28°C and the sun never sets. It’s perfect for those who just want to laze on the sand without worrying about UV indexes or jellyfish.

For those who want to take the relaxation a step further, you can book a massage on-site. It's the perfect way to cap off a day before heading back to the reality of the German winter. It might be a bit of a trek for some, but for a day trip, it beats any local pool by a long shot. Actually, I think it's probably one of the few places that actually lives up to the "oasis" tag line.
