About the Tour
For nearly four centuries, Topkapı Palace served as the nerve center of the Ottoman Empire. As the famous traveler Evliya Çelebi noted back in the 1600s, "Never hath a more delightful residence been erected by the art of man." Today, it remains a sprawling testament to imperial power, art, and daily life of the Sultans.

To ensure a smooth flow and avoid the heaviest crowds, you can choose between two main ways to enter the palace. Please note that Topkapi Palace is closed every Tuesday.

Whether you choose the fast track or the guided highlights tour, you'll receive access to an audio guide app available in 25 languages. This allows you to explore the sprawling grounds at your own pace while hearing the stories behind the stone walls. While the audio app is multilingual, please remember your live host or guide will speak English only.
What You’ll See
The palace is home to some of the world's most unique collections. From the weapons of the Ottoman Army to an incredible array of Chinese and Japanese porcelain, the sheer volume of "stuff" is staggering.
- The Holy Relics: A deeply significant chamber containing items like the staff of Moses and the sword of David.
- The Harem: The most private part of the palace. With over 300 rooms, nine baths, and two mosques, this was the exclusive domain of the Sultan’s family. Key highlights include the Privy Chamber of Murad III and the stunning Imperial Hall.
- The Treasury: While the Outer Treasury (Weapon Collection) is currently undergoing some maintenance and is temporarily closed, the rest of the palace—including the jewels and fabrics—remains fully accessible.

Know before you go
- Please arrive in front of the Fountain of Sultan Ahmed III at least 15 minutes before your tour time. The fountain is located right in front of the main entrance gate of Topkapi Palace. Your guide, holding a white flag, will meet you there.
- This attraction cannot be visited without a guide.
- Security lines are mandatory for all visitors, it might take 20-40 mins.
- Every guest joining this tour gets an audio guide and needs their own device to use it.
- Children must present a valid passport at the museum entrance to verify age.
- Download the audio guide in advance via the link in your confirmation email, via “Show My E-Ticket” button. (with your QR code). The museum has no Wi-Fi; internet is required for the first download.
- Accept browser cookies to ensure the audio guide works. Once downloaded, it can be used offline.
- Do not leave Topkapi Palace before entering the Harem. Entry will be arranged by your guide, and you must stay until the tour is complete.
